Both Severson and Graves were gone either way. Gonna be too expensive just to play them on the 3rd pair. Graves is behind Siegs and Hughes, with Bahl/Smith able to play the 3rd pair role for much cheaper. Severson is behind Hamilton and Marino, with Nemec on the cusp of getting that spot either this upcoming year or the following year. Neither guy had a spot for a big extension.

Can someone explain to me how he's not asking for what Erik Karlsson did (11 x 8). Yes he is coming out of ELC, I get that. But does anyone think in 2-3 years he'll be anything but a superstar! Then add the cap will only be increasing, I think we will see top end players START at 10m and go to 13-14?

It’s not that complicated. Some players want to win a Cup more than make another million that will have near zero net impact on their lives. Players just have to look at Toronto to see where me-first attitudes get you.
